Healthy Strides 2017: Every Thursday, June 8-August 31, meet at South Central Park, 6:00 pm, and walk with a group. From time to time, the walk will feature a speaker from the Cleveland Clinic or the City of North Ridgeville.
Healthy Concessions Stands: The collaborative is working with Parks and Rec and North Ridgeville City Schools to ensure that there are healthy options available at concessions stands.
Indoor Walking: In the winter months, North Ridgeville City Schools opens up and welcomes the community for a group walk each week.
Salad Wednesday: Every Wednesday, North Ridgeville Community Care welcomes any resident over the age of 65 to come and get fresh produce and salad ingredients.
The Lorain County Safe Community Coalition is using unexpected strategies to remind everyone that summer celebrations must include sober driving plans. During the Lorain International Festival last weekend, Coalition members posted fliers on the doors of portable toilets – the fliers offered tips on how to find a sober ride home. Next, in preparation for Independence Day, the Coalition will team up with 10 Discount Drug Mart locations to display ways to get a sober ride on water bottles.
