Summer Social Walking Opportunities

Fit Walks is hitting the road again this summer to celebrate and showcase Lorain County’s great walking spaces. Fit Walks Summer Series will host a one-time social walking hour at different locations around Lorain County each month. All walkers, leashed dogs, and strollers are welcome.

Walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to join these no-cost social walking hours. Summer Series events include:
- Monday, June 12, 5:30 p.m.: Columbia Township Park, 25540 Royalton Rd., Columbia Township

- Monday, July 17, 5:30 p.m.: Black River Landing, 421 Black River Ln., Lorain

- Monday, Sept. 18, 5:30 p.m.: South Amherst Park, 513 W. Main St., Amherst

Regularly scheduled Fit Walks will still occur throughout the summer when there is no Summer Series event.
- Every Monday (excluding holidays), 5:30 p.m.: Lorain County Metro Parks Splash Zone, 95 West Hamilton Rd., Oberlin.

- Every Thursday, 5:30 p.m.: Amherst Beaver Creek, 913 North Lake St., Amherst. Indoor location during inclement weather: Mercy Health & Recreation Center, 47160 Hollstein Dr., Amherst.

No membership is required. Join a walk whenever you have time in your schedule; a weekly commitment is not necessary.

  • Lorain County will experience a partial eclipse -when the moon partially covers the sun- on Monday, August 21 around 1:00 p.m. Make the most of this awe-inspiring event by protecting your eyes– it’s never a good idea to look directly at the sun! Looking directly at the sun without the correct eye protection, even for a short time, can cause permanent damage to your eyes.
