Want to walk or bike but don’t have anywhere safe to do it?
Changing the environment that we live in so that it is conducive to getting active isn’t always easy, but will have a long lasting positive effect on our communities. There are many ways to get started right in your own neighborhood.
The following links will provide a wealth of information on how to get started and tools to help you along the way:
Walkability Checklist (drusilla.hsrc.unc.edu/cms/downloads/walkabilitychecklist.pdf)
Bikeability Checklist (www.bicyclinginfo.org/pdf/bikabilitychecklist.pdf)
These Checklists help give insight into the walkability and bikeability of a neighborhood. They contain insightful questions, allowing the user to evaluate their neighborhood. In addition to the questions, the Checklists provide both immediate answers and long-term solutions to a neighborhood's potential problems.
