How Much Sleep Do I Need?
1/14/10 -- Not enough sleep is associated with a number of chronic diseases and conditions—such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and depression—which threaten our nation’s health.
Not getting enough sleep is associated with the onset of these diseases and leads to consequences for their management and outcome.
Did you know that not getting enough sleep is responsible for motor vehicle and machinery-related accidents, causing substantial injury and disability each year? Drowsy driving can be as dangerous—and preventable—as driving while intoxicated.
Although how much sleep we need is different from person to person, the National Sleep Foundation notes that the need for sleep changes as we age.
